Arsenal's Jermaine Pennant has been moved back up to the England U21 squad for Friday night's game against Greece - replacing his club-mate Francis Jeffers, who withdrew due to injury.
According to the FA's website, 'Under 21 coach David Platt was among a crowd which saw Pennant torment the Iceland defence with his searing pace and close control (for the U19s earlier this week) and Platt had little hesitation in calling on the former Notts County player to bolster his party.'
U19 coach Kenny Swain says he was impressed by Pennant's attitude at the apparent step down in class. 'He could have thought that he was just here to make up the numbers and that he was really an Under 21 player but there was never a hint of that kind of approach,' he said.
