Thanks to Johan and Calle for sending us the news
that our Fredrik Ljungberg was given the best midfielder
award at today's Swedish football awards gala.
It's nice to see Freddie getting some recognition.
I think we all knew that this was a true Gooner when he came
on as a sub in his debut against Man Utd, having inherited Ian Wright's number 8 shirt, and promptly got himself booked
and then made Schmeichel look foolish with a delightful chip.
And he's clearly taken the club to his heart since then,
as evidenced by his performances and his increasingly
bright red hairstyles.
Freddie is the Gooner most likely to start the
England-Sweden match on Saturday (or he was until
Wenger said tonight that a shoulder problem could keep
him out). Martyn will get the nod
ahead of Wright in goal, and Keown's place alongside Rio Ferdinand is not certain. Ashley Cole is being rested.
See if you can guess who won the Swedish football personality
of the year award....
