Hmmmm.
In the World Cup draw in Korea, England have just
been drawn into the group already containing
Argentina and Sweden!
With just over half the draw completed, this is
already looking like the hardest group.
Not only do our England players (Wright, Campbell,
Cole, hopefully Keown and Seaman, and maybe more?)
have to play the old enemy Argentina (who ended 2 of
England's last 3 World Cup attempts), but Freddie Ljungberg's
Sweden are in the mix too.
Champions France have Denmark, Senegal, and Uruguay in their group. The opening match will be France vs Senegal.
"He comes from Senegal,
he plays against them for France...."
The Republic of Ireland, having qualified from a tough group containing Holland and Portugal, are rewarded with
an easier one in the finals, consisting of Germany,
Saudi Arabia, and Lauren's Cameroun.
So there will be plenty of UK interest in the Arsenal right-back's fixtures.
Inamoto's Japan have Belgium, Russia,
and Tunisia.
Edu's recent return to playing (and doing well by all accounts)
will have raised his hopes of making the Brasil squad. They have drawn China, Turkey, and Costa Rica.
See FIFA site for full draw
and guff.
The 4th team in the Argentina/England/Sweden group has just come out.
Would you believe it.... Kanu and Nigeria!
Is this the hardest World Cup group ever???
