Kanu has been omitted from the Nigeria squad to face Paraguay in a friendly on March 26th (see Daily Soccer).
For once, there's no suggestion that this is any kind of
political decision. Kanu's place in the World Cup squad seems
secure having been named captain. The coach is using the gamne to look at a load of new players. Austin Okocha and Sunday Oliseh are also omitted.
It's good news for Arsenal, as it means Kanu is available for
the FA Cup replay on Saturday 23rd. Note that Henry is banned from that match, a fact which reflects on Arsenal's decision
not to appeal the ban. Could it be that the draw on Saturday was just a ploy to make sure Thierry only missed one premiership match? ;-)
