Lauren prepares for Saudi match by Rupe
on 5/6/02 at 20:05
this is story 286 of 368 in this topic to date
Lauren is reported to have criticised his country's preparations for the World Cup.

"The way we prepared was not good enough for a tournament like the World Cup. The way we travelled was terrible." The Cameroon star promises to reveal more at the end of the tournament.

It's rather strange timing from Lauren, given that they have a match tomorrow. It's not immediately apparent that this outburst itself constitutes good preparation, but I guess Lauren knows best. Maybe it'll bring the squad together. There is at least no suggestion that he's slagged his teammates or the coach, and also no suggestions yet that he'll be sent home in disgrace like a certain Man Utd midfielder.

The Keane-free Ireland had a great result today, drawing against Germany. It means that (assuming Ireland and Cameroon bothe beat Saudi Arabia) the group will be decided by the result in the last game between Cameroon and Germany. A win would take either team through, a loss would see them out. If it's a draw, chances are it'll come down to how many goals everyone scores against the Saudis. Cameroon have the next bash at them, tomorrow. Anything more than 8-0 would give them an advantage over the Germans.
