Thierry Henry has just been sent off playing for France
against Uruguay. It's currently 0-0 after 27 minutes.
Thierry's offence was a slightly reckless sliding tackle.
Could have expected a yellow card but the fact that his studs appeared to make contact with the other guy's leg tipped
the balance towards red.
Obviously France have quality cover in that position for the next match, but with
both Denmark and Senegal on 4 points following the early match
today, qualification for the champions is very much hanging
in the balance.
Rupe adds...
France went on to draw 0-0 and now face elimination unless they get a good win against Denmark.
