The England under-19 team drew and lost their final two games in the European championships in Norway to finish 3rd in their group. The 3rd place finish qualifies them for the FIFA World Youth championships next year. Germany won the group to qualify for the final against Spain on Sunday.
On Wednesday England again conceded a late equaliser to draw 1-1 against Belgium in their second group game. Jermaine Pennant, Ryan Garry and Justin Hoyte all started the game, and Jerome Thomas came on as a late substitute for Pennant.
On Friday, a 2-0 half time lead against Ireland was thrown away, and England eventually lost 3-2. Thomas and Garry both started the match, Pennant replaced Thomas with 15 minutes to go as England chased the match. |
