There was a pleasing lack of Arsenal involvement with last night's friendly internationals. As reported yesterday, Jens Lehmann pulled out of the Germany match in Romania with back trouble. Not a bad move as it turned out, as they crashed to a 5-1 defeat with 4 of the goals coming against Lehmann's rival Oliver Kahn (who came off, as planned, at half time).
Freddie Ljungberg, due to make his first start for Sweden since September, was ruled out late in the day with a minor hand injury (something to do with previous problem, perhaps? If so then it might not be so minor...). Without him, they managed a creditable 2-2 draw in Portugal.
Brazil put on a good show in Budapest with a 4-1 win. Edu made his debut as planned, but needed hospital treatment on an eye after the game, having suffered some sort of injury in the final moments of the game. More details as and when... (does anyone know how he performed? the eye thing is the only mention of him I've found in any reports so far)
The only mention I've found so far of the Ivory Coast game is that they beat Guinea 4-2. Anyone know if Kolo played (and if he did, in what position)?

Updates: According to the official
Arsenal site, Edu came on at half-time, replacing Ze Roberto. They say that the eye thing is not thought to be serious.
Jerry Hall sends the following eye-witness account, "I was at the Hungary / Brazil game last night; Edu came on at half-time
and looked tidy enough. He didn't try anything ambitious, in fact he
seemed a little subdued compared to playing for the Arsenal. Maybe debut
nerves - or maybe we were just too bloody high up in the stands to see
properly!"
And thanks to John Burgess who pointed us in the direction of this Sky Sports page:
Kolo did play, and scored his team's second goal.
