Both Jermaine Pennant and John Spicer played key
roles
in England U16's 2-1 win over Argentina in the Wembley mini-tournament
yesterday.
Winger Pennant, whose big-money move from Notts County last
year caused such a fuss, had also impressed in the other match, a draw
with France. And against Argentina, Spicer was highly influential
in the centre of midfield.
So don't despair too much at the imminent losses of the likes of Stephen
Hughes and Michael Black. The Brady bunch
have yet to come of age.
Meanwhile, Nelson Vivas gave away a penalty for the first goal in the grown-up Argentina's loss at home to Colombia.
He was subsequently substituted thus missing Colombia's other 2 goals. Martin Palermo missed an
extraordinary 3 penalties for Argentina. To step
up for the third shows that he does at least have balls, although possibly no longer if
the Argentine fans got hold of him.
