Ukrain captain Oleg Luzhnyi was reported prior to the game to stay on the pitch for the first hour of play but finally spent the whole 90 minutes galopping up and down his touchline. Surely the lack of first-team appearances for Arsenal did not affect his fitness.
For France, Patrick Vieira has a good game despite holding a less axial role (he rather played in an inside-left position) alongside Deschamps and Karembeu in midfield. Former Gunner You-Know-Who was never in the game and clearly showed a lack of competition and sharpness up front. He was substituted after 51 minutes, and is reported for not starting the Armenia game on wednesday. |
