There may suddenly be a glimmer of hope that Arsenal might get Kanu back from the African Nations Cup to play against Man U.
Arseweb doesn't generally check the Nigerian papers for Arsenal gossip, but we happened across an item in 'The Guardian' which might be of interest.
Anthony Kojo Williams, the chairman of the Nigerian FA has been impeached after barely 3 months in the job... and with the Cup days away. As reported previously on Arseweb, the (very) recent history of the NFA reads like a soap opera.
Arseweb did hear that the Nigerian coach was content for Kanu to be released, and it was the NFA that blocked it. (Although comments reported in today's Mirror suggest otherwise...) But with the man who called Arsenal 'irresponsible' now deposed... we wonder if acting chairman, Brigadier-General Dominic Oneya (retired) is more open to persuasion?
