The dialogue between Nigerian coach Jo Bonfrere and English (!) managers Arsene Wenger and Gianluca Vialla (as
first reported here) seems to have started amicably.
The upshot as far as Arsenal are concerned is that Kanu will be allowed
to travel to Lens for our semi-final second leg on Thursday 20th,
despite Nigeria's World Cup qualifier 2 days later. But he'll miss the Premiership clash with Watford on the following Sunday.
See AFCi.
Sporting Life say that there will however be more tough negotiations to come. Nigeria are expected to assert their right to call players up to the full. But events to date suggest that they may continue to be receptive to clubs' pleas for flexibility with dates. |
