Update: the deal's now off - Hartson's (failed) another medical. But here's what we thought anyway...
Rangers really are busy in the transfer market today. Not only are they set to sign regular Arsenal-linkee Ronald De Boer, but they're apparently set to spend £7million on former Arsenal-carthorse, John Hartson!
The official Rangers website helpfully points out: 'Hartman, who previously played for Arsenal, is noted for his power in the air and fighting spirit'. Count the deliberate mistakes in that sentence!
It represents yet another mega-money move for the ginger-topped Welshman. We paid £2.5m for him, bringing him from Luton obscurity to the Big Time. Then West Ham forked out £3.3m (according to the normally reliable Soccerbase - although we thought it was more). Then Wimbledon splashed out a whopping £7.5m to take him to Selhurst Park... and astonishingly, look like getting most of their money back.
If he needs somewhere to stay for the first few weeks, we're sure he could share a flat with his former West Ham teammate now at Celtic, Eyal Berkovic.
