Chelsea say they have indeed signed former Highbury hero Emmanuel Petit, despite rumours that Man Utd were coming in for him. And they have the paperwork to prove it.
Chelsea MD Colin Hutchinson says he has signed contracts from Petit and Barcelona, which have been lodged with the FA - and will kick in on July 1. The deal was only kept quiet, he says, to let Barca concentrate on their late charge into next year's Champions League.
At least our nightmare vision of Petit and Vieira reunited in anything other than an Arsenal (or France) shirt will not now be realised. Phew. |
