Arsenal's former goalkeeper, and goalkeeping coach until last season, Bob Primrose Wilson has now announced his retirement from the TV business too.
'A lot of young TV presenters are coming through and doing well. I just think it's time. I've been so lucky,' said the ever modest Bob. ITV's head of sport didn't hold back, though: 'A true broadcast professional with a genuine instinct and love of football, he leaves with the total respect of all his friends and colleagues.'
In fact, Bob Wilson has the distinction of being the host of the most watched TV football programme in British history: he anchored ITV's coverage of England v Argentina at France 1998, watched by a mere 26 million people.
Media Guardian reckons it leaves ITV's football team 'dangerously short of star performers'. Arseweb would formally like to offer its services: at least four of your Newsreel crew have a bit of broadcast experience...
