A lovely piece in Wednesday's Evening Standard about one Christopher Wreh, formerly of this parish.
Last time he graced the pages of Arseweb, in August 2001, Wreh was about to begin a glittering career at Bournemouth. The Standard reckons he actually ended up at St Mirren, but never started a single match.
They tried to offload him on loan to Darlington, but he refused to go. Interest from Norway, China and Luton came to nothing. A proposed move to Egypt fell through earlier this year. He was about to join Northampton when manager Terry Fenwick got sacked.
Wreh is now playing, or rather not playing, for Bishop's Stortford. He failed to show for a friendly this week against Enfield - and boss Martin Hayes (yes, that Martin Hayes) said: 'Even if he had turned up for the Enfield game I wouldn't have put him on the bench, never mind started him. I can never get hold of him. It's not on.' |
