Baggies bag another ex-Gunner, but not Wiltord by Rupe

West Brom have signed Junichi Inamoto from Gamba Osaka. Apparently he turned donw offers from Italy and France because he so much wanted to return to the Premiership.

But the Baggies' move for a more recent former Gunner, Sylvain Wiltord, is over. Boss Garry Megson says that "the message that I've got is that he wants to join a team in the Champions League". Have to say I'm amazed that no-one's come in for him yet. Although he never justified his record-breaking transfer fee, Sylvain did pretty well for us. Well enough to expect someone to pick him up now he's on a free. Perhaps his expectations are too high, and perhaps after his antics at Bordeaux before joining us, and then his keeping Arsenal hanging on and playing (or, rather, not playing) out his contract last season, other clubs are thinking he may be bad news.

Rupe adds...
And, of course, almost as soon as I wrote the above it was announced that Wiltord had signed for Olympique Lyonnais. He's got a 2 year contract with an option for a 3rd year. So, he's not got too long to wait before another big signing-on fee! Rather than playing for Man Utd, he'll be playing against them in the Champions League. One would like to think that he'll be more comfortable with that.
