Arsenal (1) 2 - 0 (0) Grimsby Town
Highbury, Tuesday 27th November 2001
League Cup 4th round
Arsenal again fielded a side composed of a mixture of
inexperienced newcomers and experienced world-beaters.
We were 1 up after just 2 and a half minutes,
when Pennant sent a good cross over from the right.
For once, there was an Arsenal player at the far post.
Edu jumped well and directed his header down past the
keeper for one-nil.
The second came just over 15 minutes from the end. This
time Bergkamp provided the perfect cross, landing
between keeper and defenders, and Wiltord didn't
have to jump.
Arsenal lined up:
Taylor
Stepanovs Keown (c) Tavlaridis Juan
Pennant van Bronckhorst Edu Inamoto
Wiltord Bergkamp
The young French striker Aliadiere came on as a
second half sub, and went close with an impressive
run and shot.
More details later.
