German midfielder Stefan Malz scored a match-winning goal on his first team debut in the 2-1 Worthington cup win against Preston, and the boss was duly impressed. Manager Arsène Wenger is quoted at AFCi: "He has had the right attitude since he arrived and I'm very happy that he scored. He showed his talent and qualities and although he may not have played with the players before, he has an important part to play here." Malz signed from Bundesliga side TSV 1860 Munich for £650,000 last summer, but has only appeared in reserve games until last night.
