Winger Jermaine Pennant set a new Arsenal record in the Worthington cup fourth round defeat at Middlesbrough. At 16 years and 319 days of age, he came on as a substitute to become the youngest player ever to appear for the first team. The former record was held by Gerry Ward, who in 1953 made his debut two days older than Pennant!
