According to Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood, Nigerian star Kanu has
been made a "fabulous, generous offer". Reports suggest that
it's £20,000/week which is allegedly £15,000 short of
what he's asking. But Hill-Wood makes it clear that this is
the last offer. See Eurosport.
This is echoed by Wenger's commenbts on the situation (see
Sky Sports).
But the good news is that Kanu himself has been reported as saying that rumours that he's unhappy with what he's been offered are exaggerrated. He is quoted as having said yesterday:
"What has been in the newspapers about me refusing to sign a new contract is misinformed. It's not signed yet but there are only a few details to be sorted out.... There is no problem for me at the club, I want to stay at Arsenal to help win trophies." Amen to that.
