Winterburn: "Arsenal are my life but..." by Rupe

Nigel Winterburn has spoken to Sky Sports about how much Arsenal mean to him.

“Arsenal are my life. Wimbledon may have given me my first break as a professional, but Arsenal have given me everything else. I have got everything that I wanted in football here.”

The nutty boy's love for the game and the club shines out from the pitch every time he plays (and we love you too Nigel). But recently, for the first time in living memory, he's been left on the bench despite being available. There's no denying that Silvinho is a great prospect, and that actually getting to play has done him a world of good. So it will be with some sadness that Arsenal fans read Winterburn's words,

“I’ve still got ambition and I’ve still got desire. I am always going to fight for a first-team place. However, if I can’t get into the team, or I’m not offered a new contract, then I will leave.”

As reported here a few days ago, Arsène Wenger has said that contracts may be offered to Winterburn and his counterpart on the right Lee Dixon at the end of this month, but Wenger hinted that he also might let the pair go.
