The Nigerian FA has said Arsenal can forget about getting Kanu back during quiet periods at the African Nations Cup tournament. 'Arsenal are irresponsible,' said NFA boss Anthony Williams. 'Once Kanu is in the Eagles' camp, he stays in camp.'
That means we may not have him back until 13 February, if Nigeria get all the way to the final. The Arsenal games this may affect are:
- FA Cup replay against Leicester, 19 Jan
- Man Utd, 24 Jan
- FA Cup round 5 v Chelsea/Forest (if...), 30 Jan
- Bradford, 5 Feb
- Liverpool, 13 Feb
Kanu could - theoretically - be back for the Bradford game, but it would be a real shock if Nigeria didn't get through the group stage. The way the draw looks, the Super Eagles would play their quarter final on 7 Feb; the semi-finals are on 10 Feb; 3rd place playoff is on 12 Feb; final is on 13 Feb. |
