Let this correspondent be the first to apologise for the item 'presenting' the Arsenal 'squad' for the Amsterdam tournament... it turned out to be fiction and/or guesswork from the Mirror (again?). The actual lineup is included in the AFCi match report. Main points were that David Seaman played the full game in goal with Alex Manninger on the bench. Paolo Vernazza started the game in central midfield with Gilles Grimandi, while Ashley Cole, Graham Barrett and Jeremie Aliadiere all made the bench. Oleg Luzhny played the full game as a central defender. Up front, Kanu played alongside Latvian triallist Tomas, and for the last half hour with Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and Robert Pires in his Arsenal debut. So there was no Jermaine Pennant at all...alas! |
