Arsenal and England midfielder Ray Parlour took no part in the Amsterdam tournament because of a shin injury. Manager Arsène Wenger said, "It is not too bad and I am hopeful Ray will be ready for the start of the season." Parlour, who was unavailable for selection for Euro 2000 because of injury, said: "I hurt my shin in a friendly match against Barnet and I was left out of the tournament in Holland as a precaution. We didn't want to aggravate it." "There is no chance I won't be fit to play at Sunderland." Arsenal may decide to give Parlour a run-out in the friendly match against Dunfermline in Scotland on Wednesday night.
