Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro has been charged with
violent conduct for his stamp on Freddie Ljungberg's ankle
during the bad-tempered first half of our FA cup tie at Highbury.
The FA also looked at video evidence of Babayaro's trip on Dennis Bergkamp, when he was lucky not to concede a penalty, and at
the mass confrontation which followed a few minutes later
thanks to Dennis Wise's mouth.
Under the FA's stupid rules it would have been hard for them to
do anything about the brawl, since the ref saw it and acted on it (booking 3 players). So for once things have worked in Arsenal's
favour.
It seems fitting that Babayaro should be singled out, since all the trouble appeared to start with those 2 off-the-ball
moments. |
