The Grimster, himself an all-round hero and midfield enforcer, writes on his own website: "He's been the heart and soul of the team all season and is strong, skilful and consistent. "I would argue that he's the greatest midfielder in the world." To be voted Player of the Year, Vieira must receive the most votes from his fellow professionals in English football.
