Tony Adams today made it known that he intends to
retired from playing at the end of next season.
Adams says that first off, he'll be wanting to spend more time
with his family. After that...
"I've given a lot of my life to club and country but now I'm planning just one more year with Arsenal and that's it. I've no plans beyond that and we'll just wait and see what happens. Maybe I'll regret it when the time comes but that's my plan and the way I feel now I will stick to it.
I've still got that year, though, and in that time I want to pick up as many more trophies for Arsenal as I possibly can. Really, that's all I've ever wanted to do."
See Sporting Life for more quotes.
You might think that this piece should have more int he way of tributes and so on. But there'll be plenty of time for that and
to be honest I don't want to think about it too much just now.
Surely it's enough for now just to say that Adams is still the best by a mile. And we can only hope that the rest of the team can show that they've deserved him, by winning him something big
to finish on. |
