There's a statement on the official Arsenal site today, in which Kanu reiterates his position:
"I am happy at Arsenal and
intend to fight for my place in the first team."
This comes as a response to stories today in which Kanu was made out to be hinting at a return to Inter. But if you look at the quotes, such as on the Guardian site, they did appear to be interpreting heavily.
"I still have a lot of admirers at Inter, particularly president
Massimo Moratti".
I should bloody hope so.
"I deserve a place in the first team at
Arsenal. One thing I'm sure of is that I will not want to sit on the
bench like last season."
So he wants to play. Good.
Thanks to Kanu and the club for clearing this up. With luck it'll be the last time we hear those rumours for a couple of weeks at least. It looks like we'll have 5 strikers competing for places next season. Curious that we're getting shot of a class left-back when the cover there is light.
