This morning's Daily Telegraph runs a profile of outgoing Arsenal goalkeeping coach Bob Wilson, in which the great man voices his backing for David Seaman as his replacement.
'David has said he is very keen to take on the role, depending on his shoulder injury,' says Bob. 'He loves it, you see. I think it is a really good idea. It would be my ideal. He and perhaps John Lukic. The experience of the two of them. It would be amazing. It would be massive.'
But he goes on... 'I would love to see David Seaman as my successor at Highbury. I am at complete loggerheads with the club over this. I really do wish they would take my advice because I would love to see this role remain in the Arsenal family.'
The article doesn't really expand on this - but is Bob saying that the club don't want Seaman as coach? The choice of the term 'complete loggerheads' suggests heated debate to us, rather than a conciliatory 'not yet' approach. But maybe we're reading too much into it.
Conspiracy theorists might note that the record of the interview on Arsenal.com cuts off the quote just before the 'loggerheads' line. |
