The news that Stuart Taylor has a good chance of starting against Grimsby tonight made us hopeful that David Seaman
and/or Richard Wright would be back very soon.
However...
Arsenal.com say that,
although Seaman has resumed light training, he still has a problem with the shoulder and cannot extend his arm fully
(Richard Wright had a similar problem for Deportivo's second goal
last week).
So, no reaching for the telly remote, Dave! (don't understand?
see our Unusual Football Injuries page)
The England number 1 is due to see a specialist today,
who will assess whether the extension problem is just
something to work on and cope with, or a sign of something chronic which needs protection.
Le Boss is hopeful that Dave could still be back within a few weeks, but until the specialist reports, he's really only guessing.
Meanwhile Richard Wright's knee injury is said to be keeping him
out for another 2 to 3 weeks.
Stuart Taylor's big chance continues. He'll face Ipswich at
the weekend (no return for Richard the extractor boy) and
Juventus next week. Taylor's done nothing wrong in his game-and-a-half since coming on for Wright halfway through the Deportivo game, and the defence look no more uncertain for having him
behind them.
But perhaps Graham Stack might be a good idea for tonight...? |
