Arsenal have denied rumours that Francis Jeffers is likely to be out for the rest of the season.
On the contrary, Jeffers is actually back in training.
The speculation which took off in the last few days, seems to be the product of 2 things: the lack of information about Jeffers
injury since he went missing in September, and comments allegedly
made by Arsenal insiders expressing concern about his injury.
Those concerns are understandable. Jeffers has been out with an ankle injury, and it's the same ankle which kept him out of Everton's first team for half of his last year with them. So
questions are being asked (by journos and, they say, by Arsenal)
as to how he passed the medical when he signed for Arsenal.
Well, there's an easy answer to that. It got better, and then it
got worse again. This is not rocket science.
The truth according to Arsene Wenger: "He is much better now. He's back in training again."
And Jeffers himself says,
"The ankle has improved a lot and I hope to be playing again in a few weeks."
We hope so too. After Edu's problems and now Jeffers, we were starting to wonder if it was becoming necessary to buy players
a year in advance of when we want them for.
