Tony Adams made his long-awaited comeback tonight
in a behind-closed-doors friendly reserve match
at Peterborough.
The Arsenal club captain has been out for ages with a foot injury, and missed his expected comeback game against
West Ham on Monday with a minor knee problem.
He played 45 minutes of the match and could even be set to make
his first team comeback before the New Year. You have to feel for Matthew Upson a bit though. He's done really well this season but appears (maybe) to be third choice behind Keown and Campbell now. The return of Adams will surely demote him
further. Still, with the champs league starting up again
in February there will be more chances this season,
and he looks likely to play a major part in the one to follow.
As expected, Richard Wright also made his comeback, and Freddie Ljungberg also thus played alleviating fears about his mystery back problem.
It's not impossible that these 2 will feature against Liverpool
on Sunday. Francis Jeffers could be there too, having played his
second reserve game in a week.
Arsenal won the game 3-1, all the goals being scored by Jermaine Pennant. Let's hope that before long he starts turning it on in his rare first team appearances like he does for the reserves.
