Francis Jeffers and Lee Dixon continued their comebacks
yesterday, both playing the full 90 minutes in another
specially arranged friendly, this time against Oxford Utd
at the Arsenal training ground.
A week ago, Jeffers scored 3 as Arsenal beat Barnet by 7 goals to nil.
This time, Jeffers got another hattrick and we won 4-1. Jeremie Aliadiere got the 4th and Jamie Brooks (who has been watched by Arsenal scouts for some time) got the consolation goal for Oxford.
So that's 2 hattricks and 7 goals in 3 games for Jeffers, and
yet the Arsenal.com report says he's still only "approaching full fitness". I'm not sure whether to be glad that Wenger's not risking further injury, or to be hoping that Jeffers gets to play for the first team soon (before he gets injured again). With Kanu off to Africa for a while soon, I guess Jeffers is being kept back until we need him more. But I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels he'd be putting away a few of the chances Kanu's been missing of late.
Dixon's comeback could be just as significant, as Lauren is also off to the African Nations Cup soon. |
