Nwankwo Kanu has pleaded with the Nigerian Football Association to get a few extra days in England before leaving for the national squad to play in the African Nations Cup. The forward wants to play for Arsenal against Liverpool on Jan 13, and supports the efforts of manager Arsène Wenger to have him released. Kanu is supposed to report in Nigeria this weekend for the preparations for the tournament in Mali, which starts at the end of the month. "He wants to stay for the game against Liverpool and he has told the Nigerians that he wants to stay," Wenger says. More in the Evening Standard.
