The reserve match against Watford, scheduled for Monday but
cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, has been rearranged
for Thursday night. It will be played behind closed doors.
There's been speculation (in the Standard, at least) that
Arsenal were keen to play this week in order to give Adams
a run out and see if he might be ready to step in for the injured and banned Martin Keown. (doesn't do anything by
halves does he?).
There's also news that
Adams has hinted that he might not retire in the summer after all. He's quoted as saying "I haven't ruled out playing for another year, maybe more than that. I will know when it's time to call it a day. I still feel I can make a contribution to Arsenal." It's not completely unsurprising, it's been a
frustrating season for him so far. Maybe once he's come back and
led us to the treble he'll go back to feeling it's a good time to stop.
And according to Arsenal.com, Patrick Vieira's injury has responded well to treatment, and he is hopeful of being able to play on Sunday against Everton.
