Ashley Cole's knee injury, picked up against Charlton on
Monday, is not as bad as first feared.
It looked like a recurrence of the medial ligament damage
to his right knee which caused the long absence which he'd
only just returned from. But a scan today has shown that there's
no damage to those ligaments.
It's good news for both Arsenal and England. The bad news is that
he will definitely miss Saturday's North London derby. But
the injury is described as "short term" by Arsenal. So he has a should yet be involved in the run-in, and could be back for
the FA Cup semi the following weekend.
In the meantime, if Lauren isn't fit to return (he's rated as doubtful), Luzhny will presumably play left-back against
Tottenham, with Lee Dixon on the right.
