Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira trained with the first team yesterday, and will be fit to face Birmingham in this weekend's Premier League opener.

Vieira received treatment to his left knee following the Community Shield in Cardiff last Sunday.

However, Kanu and Francis Jeffers are ruled out of the game. Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Fredrik Ljungberg and Robert Pires are long-term injury absentees.
