Dennis Bergkamp has had an X-ray on the rib injury from Saturday,
and it's good news. He's still "pretty sore" and will have to miss some training, but there's no lasting damage and he thinks
he may well be fit for the trip to St Mary's at the weekend.
See his diary at Icons.com.
On the nature of the injury, thought to have occured early in the game during a clash with Dean Richards, Arsene Wenger is
quoted as saying, "Dennis had to come off with inflammation of his ribcage and we don't really know where it came from. But he thinks that maybe when he fell he hit himself with his elbow."
We think that it is unlikely that the FA will be pressing charges against Dennis for this one. But if the TV cameras caught it, you never know...
We await news on other squad members. Keown and Parlour are both thought to be close to a return. Henry came off injured on
Saturday but we've seen no suggestions as yet that he'll miss the Southampton game (he's not pulled out of the France squad).
Gilberto will probably miss it through Brazil duty in Asia.
