Five weeks after the event, Dennis Bergkamp has been charged
with "improper conduct" for the alleged elbow on Lee Bowyer just before setting up the crucial second goal for Henry is the 3-1 win over West Ham on 19th January.
Dennis has 14 days in which to reply to the charge. Because it's "improper" rather than "violent" conduct, he has a fair chance of getting away with a fine rather than a ban (if found guilty).
Dennis claims that he didn't see Bowyer was there, which at the time looked very reasonable. He was turning away from another West Ham player. But on closer inspection of the replay it does
look like he might have glanced in Bowyer's direction, and the fact that he's been charged suggests that the FA agree.
But it's very hard to understand why the FA keep taking so long over these things.
