"Now they said that I was offered one million pounds to leave. It was in the papers, so I went to them to ask for the money. They could not pay. I have read so many things and I know that they cannot deny all." This is Kanu's comment on one of the summer's most persistent rumours, that Arsenal want him to leave no matter the cost. The Nigerian forward tells Nigerian paper Vanguard that he has rejected offers from other clubs, preferring to fight his way back to the first team at Highbury. "What I have decided to do is to be coolheaded, take my training seriously and pay a lot of attention to international assignments," Kanu says.
