Thierry Henry has a calf strain which could keep him out of
the team for 2 to 3 weeks, according to the official Arsenal site.
The onus now falls on Reyes and van Persie to prove their worth,
with Arsenal needing wins over Bolton Blackburn and Norwich to maintain our hopes of a trophy and of automatic qualification to next year's Champs League. The good news is that after Saturday's FA Cup match at the Reebook and the next week's trip to Ewood Park, there's a break for internationals (although it could of course be filled by another FA Cup replay). Henry will hopefully be back for the semi (touch wood) on 16th or 17th April.
Edu picked up another injury perparing for the Bayern match last night. He's got cartilage trouble that will require some sort of surgery. Doesn't sound too bad as Wenger is saying maybe only 3 to 4 weeks out, but he'll probably miss most of the rest of the season. Even with Gilberto out we do have players for that
position, with Flamini and Cesc continuing to impress. But an injury to either of them or Vieira and we could suddenly look very short-handed in the middle of midfield.
Gilberto could be back soon though, and was even named on the bench last night. But Wenger says he'll probably need a couple of full games with the reserves before appearing for the first team, and hasn't even trained with them yet. He was named last night simply because of the lack of cover in the centre of defence. |
