It appears to be emerging that young Arsenal star Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is not to be charged with anything relating to the incident that occured outside the Cafe Royal following the presentation of the PFA awards in the early hours of Monday morning, following which a man was taken to hospital with minor head injuries.
Quincy was one of several men taken in by the police following the incident. But his agent Brian Berkleef has made a statement as follows:
"After leaving the bar Quincy and two friends were in a car. Two men started standing in front of the car. They were drunk and yelled at them in the car. They damaged the car."
"One of Quincy's friends wanted to have a conversation and so he got out of the car. The man started to hit him and a fight broke out."
The 19 year old player joined Arsenal 3 years ago from Ajax, making his first team debut as a late sub against Rotherham in October 2003, when he nearly scored in the 5 minutes he was on the pitch. He got his first senior goal this season against Everton, also in the League Cup, on 9th November, a match where he made a huge impact after coming on as a 21st minute sub. He's thought to have huge potential and, following the Pennant debacle, everyone associated with the club will be glad to hear that it sounds like he's in the clear. |
