Arsene Wenger is being quoted today as saying that Jose Antonio Reyes will not be leaving the Arsenal.
Last week, Le Boss was very critical of Real Madrid's approach to Jose's future this summer, saying that the Spanish club had made their interest public but then failed to even table a bid.
"Real have not made an offer at all, it is a complete bluff.
For a big club like Real Madrid you don't expect them to unsettle the player then say 'sorry, we have no money'." [A bit disingenuous there as usual, M.Wenger, surely that's exactly the sort of behaviour one expects from Real Madrid?]
"They are not professional, they have no consideration for the player and it has affected Jose very badly." This effect on Jose is why, Wenger says, he was left out of the DinamoZagreb: game the week before last.
Today, the Arsenal manager is reportedly saying,
"...that is one thing that I can tell you is finished. Jose Antonio Reyes is an Arsenal player and will remain an Arsenal player."
One can only hope that not too many Arsenal fans have been taken in by all the speculation, in particular the parts that have alleged that Jose is unhappy at Arsenal. We've seen it all before, and it didn't seem to affect him as an Aresnal player back then. Recent pictures of Jose in a Real shirt were taken ages ago, and I bet most of the quotes we've seen in recent weeks about Real being his dream club are just regurgitated and/or made up too.
Let's also hope the same isn't true of today's reports about him staying.
