Thierry Henry has admitted to frustration with his
Arsenal teammates' performances on and off the pitch. The only fellow player that escapes his wrath is
Emmanuel Adebayor, and the reason is that the Togalese striker has rhythm.
Everyone's been talking about the way that the two of them celebrate each other's
goals with a bit of a boogie and bit of a hug. It's been particularly noticeable
whenever one of the pair scores while the other is off the pitch, as they get
together for the ritual over by the dugout. For examples see Arsenal 3 Tottenham 1 and
Arsenal 4 Charlton 0. We've commented on the
remarkable contrast between this behaviour and the way Henry was with
Adebayor's predecessor Jose Antonio Reyes, but there's also a
contrast with the way Henry is with his other teammates.
Henry has acted to dispel rumours of a rift in the dressing room,
saying that it's just that Adebayor's the only one of his teammates
that can do the do.
"There is nothing really behind it. It just happened. We were messing
around in the dressing room. That is one of the steps that I do when
I dance and we said we’d do it if we scored. To be honest he is the
only one who can follow the steps."
It's a valiant attempt to keep things sweet in the squad. "We always
celebrate our goals. I like to enjoy them with everybody."
Yes, Thierry but you enjoy them more with Ade.

celebration. You too could be Thierry Henry's favourite. |
