I'm not sure that this should count as 'news', it does seem rather intrusive - but today's papers are suggesting that Martin Keown heard late yesterday afternoon that his son needs a major operation, and that this might have affected his mental state during last night's game against Blackburn. But fair play to Boom Boom - he's not making any excuses himself. 'It's not a good reason for the reaction that I had,' he is quoted. 'I can handle things like this and I should be able to be professional.'
PA suggest that Keown will miss two games due to the red card: the visit to Middlesbrough, and either the FA Cup semi replay (if there is one) or the home game against Derby.
