Today's Mirror reports that Tony Adams did not travel with the rest of the squad to France for intensive pre-season training, and the two high-profile friendlies on Saturday and Monday. He trained with the team on Monday, but complained of 'soreness' afterwards. 'The England defender looks certain,' they say, 'to have a hernia operation which will put him out of action for six weeks.'
With Upson suffering a hamstring problem in the Notts County game, and with Bouldy on Wearside, the paper suggests that Luzhny will move into the centre of defence alongside Keown.
The article also reveals something we all must have suspected: that a bid was made for Chris Perry - Wenger offered £3m at transfer deadline day last season, but was turned down. |
