Signing David Seaman's replacement seems to be the hardest job for manager Arsène Wenger this summer. While the two other obvious transfer targets are forward Harry Kewell and defender Philippe Mexes, the number of keepers linked with a Highbury move is seemingly endless. But let's try anyway: Flavio Roma, Thomas Sørensen, Rustü Recber, Brad Friedel, Paul Robinson, Antti Niemi, Oliver Kahn, Mickaël Landreau, Morgan de Sanctis, Alexandre Nelson, Fabian Carini, Russell Hoult, Christian Abbiati, Sebastien Frey, Harald Wadenaar, Santiago Cañizares, David James, Jerzy Dudek, Sebastien Saja and Gregory Coupet (gasp for air here) have all been mentioned in the media the last two months. Of course, most of the players' agents leak Arsenal's name to the papers in order to secure better deals for their clients, either with present employers or other suitors. If your goalkeeper is rumoured to interest a big club like Arsenal, chances are you'll pay him more for his services. However, some rumours have more to them. Rustü Recber turned down Arsenal to sign for Barcelona. Christian Abbiati signed a new deal with AC Milan after the club turned down Arsenal's big bucks, and they even confirmed the bid on their official website. Of the remaining candidates, Arseweb picks two: Paul Robinson of Leeds can be bought in the same deal as teammate Kewell, involving one or more Arsenal players going the other way. Santiago Cañizares of Valencia has told the media he's keen to come, and at 34 he wouldn't scare Stuart Taylor or Graham Stack from staying. We'll see come the end of July, perhaps?
