PA confirms that Nir Berkovic has signed for the Arsenal. He will join the youth team in January, and live in London with brother Eyal of West Ham. PA describe him as an attacking midfielder (oh great, just what we need) who left Maccabi Haifa 'following a row over him being dropped'. (Shades of Anelka?) No mention of Anderlecht, intriguingly, but the national service problem is confirmed - we get him for the next two years, then the Israeli army gets him. |
