Vela rumour back, but he's not got a lot older yet... by Rupe

this is story 1124 of 1143 in this topic to date
Not sure how much faith to put in this site, but they're claiming that a deal has been arranged for Arsenal to buy Carlos Vela.

There was much talk about Vela last week (see here), but the upshot seemed to be that it wasn't really a likely proposition. According to FIFA rules, the 16 year old attacking midfielder is too young for an International transfer (except for 3 exception clauses that don't apply, as previously described). Arsene Wenger himself admitted that because of the rules Vela is an idea for the future, but "not for now".

The new claim is that Arsenal can sign Vela and then loan him to a Spanish club "until he is old enough to play professionally in the Premiership". This ignores the fact that it's FIFA rules that prevent his signing, not Premiership (or British) rules. It is possible that there's some way Vela could move to Spain but not England, possibly involving one of those get-out clauses, but so far there's been no explanation.

Another reason to doubt the story is the fact that Vela himself is quoted as saying he knows nothing about it. "I wasn't aware of anything, but if it is already done, then great, because I want to leave now." He hasn't seen any proposed contract. He goes on to say (or to be quoted, at least), "I was told there was a chance of joining a Spanish club, but they didn't tell me which, they didn't know, it had to be a place in which I could be in the first team, play often...". Which leads to another source of doubt, because the Spanish club in question is Valencia. That's a massive club to be taking a gamble on a 16 year-old as a temporary measure for Arsenal's benefit, especially if he's expecting to be playing in the first team regularly from the off.

The claim is that, "the two teams reached a quick agreement over the fee and conditions, so a contract offer is expected to be extended and signed very soon." There are, of course, 3 teams involved here. And a player. We'll see. It'd be interesting if it's true, but even if it were true, we wouldn't see him in an Arsenal shirt for a couple of years and there'd be no guarantee of even that.

Rupe adds...
According to Football365, who have quotes from Vela's father, the whole family (apart from one brother) will be moving to Spain. It seems pretty clear that this is for footballing reasons, but I suppose FIFA would have to be able prove it to object.
